Sad News – Shihan Omura Fujikiyo –

It was very sad to inform you all that Shihan Omura Fujikiyo (8th Dan) passed way at the age of 70. We lost words to express our sadness, because the time to say good bye to him has come extremely earlier.

In April 1978, after a two-year period as a trainee, Omura Shihan taught as an instructor at the JKA HQ, and as a player, he won a Kumite match at the “JKA All Japan Karate Championship”. After that, Shian was dispatched to the Kingdom of Thailand, where he energetically traveled not only to Thailand but also to neighboring countries to teach and promote JKA karate.

As you know, he has also made a significant contribution to the development of the Japan Karate Association in Asia as an international director of the Asian region, by organizing annual Asian conferences & training camps and hosting “JKA Asia Oceania Karate Championship Tournament” at Thailand two times in 2015 and 2019.

The days of practicing and working hard together at JKA HQ Dojo are unforgettable memories for all of us. He was also a reliable director of the International Board for us. We, Japan Karate Association, feel that we have lost a great asset.

We would like to express our deepest condolences and pray for the repose of the soul of Shihan Omura.
