A shining star has gone.
We JKA HQ, are deeply sad to hear that Johan Roets Shihan, 8th Dan, has passed away on Thursday, 3^rd February, 2025 at age 93.
Johan Roets Shihan devoted himself to developing and promoting JKA Karate-do in South Africa during his lifetime. He led Karate as an excellent Karateka in African region including his country and supported JKA HQ. His competence and knowledge were also expected to exert as a member of International Shihan-kai, which was newly set up in 2023.
Japan Karate Association lost a great treasure.
It’s impossible to imagine the sadness and sense of loss of his family and the members of SA JKA and African region.
We would like to pray for the repose of his soul and offer his family and SA JKA our deepest condolences.
