【ROMANIA】REPORT JKA SPRING CAMP ROMANIA TIMISOARA 15-17 MAY 2026

The 15th Anniversary Gasshuku JKA Romania was an exceptional event in Timisoara, with Ogura Yasunori Shihan and Naka Tatsuya Shihan, our guests from Hombu Dojo Tokyo.

This anniversary seminar brought together over 200 participants from Romania, but also from Germany, Moldova, England, Switzerland, Hungary, Serbia, Bulgaria, and Turkey.

During the three days of Gasshuku, participants benefited from intensive kihon, kata, and kumite sessions, with an emphasis on technical precision, biomechanics, and practical applicability. The two masters offered detailed explanations, remarkable demonstrations, and an authentic perspective on the fundamental principles of JKA karate.

On Friday, May 15, we had training with only the 100 black belts, both in the morning and in the afternoon. We studied Kanku Dai and Jion, in detail with applications, gohon kumite and kihon kumite. The correctness of the techniques, the dynamics and control of the body, the strength of the legs and hips were emphasized.

On Saturday and Sunday, the training with the 100 practitioners with colored belts, Ogura Shihan and Naka Shihan, taught very carefully the basic kihon techniques, and the kata Taikyoku Shodan, Heian Shodan, Heian Yondan and Heian Godan, with applications for each.

The black belts continued on Saturday morning, in the same manner of training, taking over the principles applied on Friday, this time for Gojushiho Sho and jiyu ippon kumite. The importance of training jiyu ippon kumite in order to evolve to jiyu kumite was emphasized. And on Sunday, the last day of the seminar, we received very precise information with details and applications for the kata Bassai Sho and Jitte.

The friendship and joy of practitioners of all ages and levels were evident. They trained together, sharing the same passion and desire for progress. The presence of masters Ogura and Naka offered not only an exceptional technical level, but also a deep inspiration, each of them bringing a unique perspective on the tradition and evolution of JKA karate.

The event was organized by the National Karate Association JKA WF Romania, with the objective of promoting JKA technical standards, and supporting the development of JKA karate in Romania. The atmosphere was one of professionalism, respect and unity, reflecting the core values of the JKA.

We would like to express our thanks once again to Ogura Yasunori Shihan and Naka Tatsuya Shihan, for their professionalism, the high quality of their teaching, and their excellent involvement in this Gasshuku.

The National Karate Association JKA WF Romania thanks all the participants, from home and abroad, the members of our association, the instructors and the athletes present.
