【ROMANIA】JKA Gasshuku Summer Camp Romania Timisoara 6-8 June 2025
We had the pleasure of having Yasunori Ogura Shihan as a guest in Romania this week . It was a warm summer week, with a recovery program for Ogura Sensei and a weekend full of karate.
As always, Ogura Sensei demonstrated a super correct standard karate, with focus on the quality of technical executions.
The trainings were held in two groups, colored belts, over 80 athletes, and black belts, over 70 people, instructors and athletes. We had a total of over 150 participants in the two groups.
Our seminar started on Friday morning, June 6, with training for black belts, jiyu ippon kumite, with an emphasis on correct techniques, timing and ma-ai. Then followed a refereeing training, in which Ogura Sensei brought important clarifications for shushin and fukushin, taking into account the responsibility for correct decissions.
Friday afternoon, the colored belts started training, practicing kihon techniques and the Heian Sandan Kata. The black belts followed again, studying the Jion kata. Detailed explanations and applications were provided by Ogura Sensei.
Saturday morning, the first training was with the colored belts, studying kihon techniques and Heian Yondan. And the second training was with the black belts, studying the Kanku Sho kata. Ogura Sensei provided the necessary details for correct execution and again provided explanations for the application of the techniques.
Saturday afternoon, for the colored belts, we continued with the Heian Godan kata, and for the black belts with the Nijushiho kata. Ogura Sensei’s teaching style, with detailed explanations and emphasis on body coordination in a clear and powerful technique, starting from easy to difficult, certainly led to the improvement of karate for all participants.
On Saturday evening we gathered for a Sayonara Party, in a relaxed atmosphere with good, traditional Romanian food.
On Sunday, the last day of the seminar, the colored belts practiced Gohon Kumite under the careful guidance of Ogura Sensei, and the black belts Kihon Ippon Kumite. Very good details explained by Ogura Sensei, for distance and timing. Finally, the “dan” grade tests and the qualifications for instructors and judges took place.
Congratulations to all participants, and big thank you to Yasunori Ogura Shihan for the effort he made and for the very good quality of the technical explanations, which will certainly lead to the improvement of our karate.
