6 days of high quality training were during 17.07-22.07 at the “3rd JKA Gasshuku – Summer Camp” in Cheile Gradistei – Fundata (Brasov), Romania.

We had the rare opportunity to train with both Tatsuya Naka Sensei and Kazuaki Kurihara Sensei in the same Gasshuku – Seminar.

180 participants from 11 countries (Romania, Switzerland, Russia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Germany, France, Hungary, Macedonia, Ukraine and Belgium) took part at the Summer Camp, being probably the most diverse karate seminar (regarding the number of countries) in the history of Romanian Karate.

In the first day were only two special classes only for instructors where both Senseis taught some of their secrets about how we should use our body in karate and how Kata is teaching us karate, not the other way around.

The next days were full of classes for all ages and levels divided in: 9-7 kyu, 6-4 kyu, 3 kyu-dan. We studied all Heian Katas, Bassai-dai, Jion, Gankaku, Gojushiho Sho, Sochin and also special Kumite classes (Gohon kumite, Jiyu Ippon Kumite and various exercises to improve our timing and controlling the distance during kumite).

Our organization had the first DAN examination where 3 people obtained the following DAN: 2 people Shodan and 1 person Nidan. Congratulations!

We want to thank the instructors for the best quality karate that they showed us, Robert Lazarevic for translating from Japanese to English and all the other participants for their dedication to JKA Karate.

We are hoping to keep the tradition every year or maybe in the future even twice per year.
