【MALAYSIA】JKA Malaysia Gasshuku on June 24-25, 2023

We had a fantastic Gasshuku this year again. This is 3rd edition of JKA Malaysia Gasshuku over the weekend of 24th to 25th June 2023 at local Youth & Sport Complex in the beautiful island state of Penang, Malaysia. Karateka from various JKA dojo’s from Malaysia states of Perlis, Kedah, Penang, Kuala Lumpur & Selangor participated in this two days event which was followed by Dan grading.

There are a total 75 participants attended Gasshuku including visiting members from JKA Singapore. Thanks to all the participants and of course to Tatsuya Naka Sensei, who visited us for the 3rd time.

We worked on our basic skills, very much emphasized Kihon, Kata and Kumite. Of course, we went through many katas: all the Heian Katas, Jion, Sochin & Nijushiho. A typical Sensei Naka touch which was very fascinating with its application and complete analysis (Bunkai).

We have also successful conducted a Dan examination with the following results: SHODAN: 10, NIDAN: 3, SANDAN: 1, YONDAN: 1, GODAN: 1

The evening (24th June) was celebrated with a welcome party in honor of Sensei Naka where all Gasshuku’s participants and their families attended.

Our members feel truly rejuvenated with the experience and are looking forward to the visit of JKA Instructor’s from the JKA Headquarters in the future.

I take the opportunity to thank JKA Headquarters, Sensei Naka and all JKA members for making this event a grand success.

We look forward to repeat this event again in 2024.
