Karate Day in Okinawa

About Karate Day

“Karate Day” is a commemorative day established by Okinawa Prefecture and is observed annually on October 25. It aims to honor the history and culture of karate, which has spread throughout the world, and to pass on the spirit of karate to future generations.

October 25 commemorates the historic meeting held in 1936, when leading figures of the karate community gathered to discuss the name “Karate” and the future development of the art.

In 2026, a Karate Day Dedication Demonstration will be held at the Okinawa Karate Kaikan on October 25, and the Karate Day Commemorative Demonstration Festival will be held on Kokusai Street in Naha on November 8.
