JKA/American Federation – National Summer Camp 2013 – New Orleans, Louisiana (USA)

Our JKA/AF Summer National Camp as well Dan grading was held in New Orleans, Louisiana (USA) from Thursday June 13 through Sunday June 16, 2013.

Our Guest instructor for this event was Mr. Tatsuya Naka. We thank the JKA Headquarters for giving us the opportunity to invite a very talented instructor so that we may keep a strong connection with the JKA, the “Keeper of Tradition”.

We had close to 200 participants from 6 years to over 70 years of age. All participants had the experience of training with Mikami Sensei and Naka Sensei.
Our camp was comprised not only of Karatekas from all over the United States but also Antigua, Bahamas, France, Israel, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Trinidad and Tobago. Thank you JKA WF family for sharing this learning and training experience.

The training sessions reinforced the study of perfection in basic techniques, understanding kata movements and the application of certain training exercises to develop one’s kumite.
Improving karate through perfect execution of techniques, a strong mental commitment, and respect for the Essence and Tradition of Martial Arts was emphasized as a way for self-improvement and as a means to attain the next level of training.

Our young people received very special attention from Naka Sensei and were most appreciative of his teaching. Sensei Naka was exceptionally attentive to the youth and they responded with great enthusiasm.

The camp was a great learning experience for all ages and we are very happy to be part of the JKA WF Organization.
