Experience the magic of JKA karate during the International JKA S. MIYAZAKI camp in Ghent!

Every year, during the first weekend of July, Ghent buzzes with energy, camaraderie, and passion for karate during the International JKA S. MIYAZAKI Camp – a tradition that JKA Belgium proudly upholds.

What makes this event so special? The unique mix of familiar faces and newcomers taking their first steps on the tatami. Karateka from all over Europe – beginners, advanced, and everyone in between – come together with one goal: to grow. And this year, we had over 650 participants – an absolute achievement!

During three intense yet enriching days, we’ll hone our technique under the guidance of top instructors, sweat together in challenging workouts, and above all, enjoy being with our JKA family. It’s more than just training—it’s about connection, fun, and sharing a shared passion.

This training camp is not only a sporting highlight but also a tribute to our Japanese karate father, Satoshi Miyazaki Shihan. His spirit lives on in everything we do, under the guidance of S. Gneo sensei and with the dedication of our entire organization.

This year, we had the honor of welcoming a living JKA legend: Y. Osaka sensei – a source of inspiration for every karateka. Along with Y. Hirayama sensei and K. Okuma sensei, he brought knowledge, experience, and inspiration straight from Japan. Our top Belgian instructors were, of course, also on hand with their expertise.

Participants were divided by level, so everyone could learn at their own level. Each session started with kata and delved into essential elements such as kime, rhythm, koshi, tachi kata, and kihon waza. With an eye for detail and the foundations of our JKA karate.

What stuck with me most? The strength of the instructors.

  • Osaka sensei motivates like no other to always go the extra mile.
  • Hirayama sensei combines strictness with fairness and lifts the entire group to a higher level.
  • Okuma sensei shares his knowledge enthusiastically and challenges everyone to train more consciously.

The reactions were unanimous: this was a fantastic edition!

Will you be there (again) next time? Join our growing JKA family and experience for yourself what makes this internship so unique.
We’re already eagerly looking forward to the next edition – stronger, sharper, and with even more spirit together!
Oss,

Andy Willaert
