1. Introduction

As part of efforts to develop Karate and enhance the skills of instructor and athletes within the Algerian JKA, a national training course was organized under the supervision of Shihan Okuma Koichiro JKA HQ from October 23 to 25, 2025, at Harcha Hassan Hall in Algiers.

The main objectives of this training course were to raise the technical and physical level of participants, unify the teaching methods based on the Japanese school’s approach, and strengthen connections among clubs and regional associations.

 

2. Course Progress

Day 1 – October 23rd, 2025:

*Reception and registration of participants.
* Official opening ceremony with welcoming speech from the organizing committee and introduction of Master Okuma sensei.
* Training session for instructors and coaches focused on fundamental techniques (Kihon-kata Hangetsu) and correct execution of basic movements.

Day 2 – October 24th, 2025:

* Morning session dedicated to Kata Passai sho techniques and analysis of performance from both technical and mental perspectives.
* Afternoon session focused on Kumite (sparring), emphasizing timing, distance, and reaction speed.
* Open discussion between participants and Sensei Okuma on modern training methods used in Japan.

Day 3 – October 25th, 2025:

* Comprehensive review of all technical content covered during the previous days.
* Refereeing (Kata and Kumite refereeing in JKA Law)
* Closing ceremony and distribution of participation certificates. Shihan Okuma delivered a final speech commending the participants for their discipline and strong technical level.

 

Summary:

The training course brought together over 180 participants from various Algerian provinces and was distinguished by its excellent organization and strong expert participation, leading to the successful achievement of its objectives. Shihan Okuma recommended holding similar courses regularly to develop the national level, implement lessons learned in local clubs, and improve organizational and media aspects.

Overall, the course was an important step in developing JKA in Algeria, enhancing participants’ technical skills, discipline, and teamwork. The organizing committee extends its gratitude to Okuma Sensei and all participants for their dedication and contributions.
