【MONGOLIA】the 4th JKA Mongolia National Karate Championship in Ulaanbaatar
On December 21, 2025, JKA Mongolia held the 4th JKA Mongolia National Karate Championship in Ulaanbaatar. The event brought together 170 athletes representing 9 dojos from across Mongolia.
The championship was conducted in accordance with official JKA standards and provided athletes with an opportunity to test their technical ability, discipline, and composure under competitive conditions.
The tournament began with an opening address by Chairman Giovanni Virardi, in which the principles of budo and the teachings of Funakoshi Gichin O-Sensei were highlighted. Participants were reminded that the ultimate aim of karate lies not in victory or defeat, but in the cultivation of character. Competitors were encouraged to approach each match with sincerity, calm spirit, and respect.
Athletes competed in divisions based on age and experience. Beginner participants took part in Kihon Ippon Kumite and individual Kata, focusing on correct fundamentals and form. Advanced competitors competed in Shobu Ippon Kumite and Kata, where timing, distance, control, and mental focus were tested at a higher level.
The Best Athlete Awards were presented to Tengis Erdenebat and Gegee Chuluun, each achieving two gold medals by winning both Kata and Kumite events.
Based on overall medal results, the top three dojos of the championship were:
JKA Arslantai Guur Honbu Dojo, earning 7 gold, 8 silver, and 5 bronze medals
JKA Khan-Uul Dojo, earning 5 gold, 6 silver, and 3 bronze medals
JKA Khoroolol Dojo, earning 5 gold, 5 silver, and 8 bronze medals
Throughout the day, the competition was conducted in a disciplined and respectful atmosphere. Athletes demonstrated strong effort and proper behavior in both victory and defeat. The championship concluded smoothly, with no major injuries reported, reinforcing the unity, steady progress, and commitment to true budo spirit within JKA Mongolia.
