【MAURITIUS】Report on the Official Launch of the JKA Mauritius Manual
On 16 November 2025, JKA Mauritius held the official launch of its new Manual for Instructors and Students. During the ceremony, Dr Didier Samfat, Chairman of JKA Mauritius, delivered an in-depth presentation on the content of the manual and highlighted the major social and educational initiatives carried out since the establishment of the association in 2016. These included the expansion of “Karate for All,” the development of nationwide competitions, and the successful organization of the Indo Pacific Cup.
Dr Samfat emphasised that JKA Karate in Mauritius is promoted first and foremost as a Budo-based self-development programme, aimed at strengthening character, discipline, focus, humility, and resilience in practitioners of all ages.
The new manual (3rd Edition) reflects these principles, placing strong emphasis on etiquette, values, and the spiritual foundations of Karate-Do, in accordance with the teachings of Master Funakoshi and the technical standards of JKA Headquarters.
The ceremony was honored by the presence of His Excellency Mr Dharam Gokhool, President of the Republic of Mauritius, and His Excellency Mr Masahiro Kan, Ambassador of Japan to Mauritius.
Together, they officially launched the manual. Both dignitaries delivered thoughtful and inspiring speeches that recognized the contribution of JKA Karate to youth development, education, and the reinforcement of strong moral values within Mauritian society.
The event received significant national attention, with coverage by the Mauritius Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) and several newspapers. Their reports further highlighted the cultural and educational importance of JKA Karate and its strong alignment with Japanese Budo.
