The “2nd All Bengal JKA Karate Championship 2025” was successfully hosted on November 2nd, 2025, at the Sobuj Sathi Dumurjola Howrah Indoor Stadium. This prestigious event was meticulously organized by JKAWF INDIA (West Bengal), with invaluable support from JKAWF INDIA Howrah unit, and officially recognized by the ‘Karate Do Association of Bengal (KAB)’.

The championship proudly featured over 550 competitors hailing from 28 clubs across West Bengal. These dedicated karateka showcased their exceptional skill, unwavering discipline, and profound spirit in the revered traditional JKA Ippon Shobu format incorporating a category of matches of ‘Kihon’ for 9th and 8th Kyu grades. The inclusion of veteran categories sparked a renewed competitive spirit among instructors, resulting in thrilling Kata and Kumite matches. It was truly inspiring to witness the passion and dedication of our senior karate practitioners as they showcased their skills, setting a remarkable example for all.

The tournament commenced with an impressive ceremonial march-past led by the students of Jadavpur University’s Department of Physical Education followed by the National Anthem, an inspiring start that beautifully set the tone for a day dedicated to sportsmanship and camaraderie.

The event was graced by the Supreme Judge and Chairman of JKAWF India, Somnath Palchowdhury Sensei, who meticulously oversaw all proceedings, ensuring fairness and precision. The championship’s seamless coordination was a testament to the leadership of Tournament Directors Arindam Sikdar Sensei, with Secretary Sona Ghosh Sensei and Pradip Sharma Sensei diligently managing the organizational aspects.

The successful execution of this event was made possible through the collective efforts of over 36 judges, 20 officials, and 30 support staff, all working diligently to maintain strict adherence to traditional Japan Karate Association (JKA) Ippon Shobu regulations.

Ultimately, the championship served as a vital platform for aspiring karatekas from across Bengal to demonstrate their talent and commitment to the traditional tenets of Shotokan Karate. The event culminated in a celebratory prize distribution ceremony, honouring excellence, discipline, and the true spirit of Karate-do. The Academy of Shotokan Karate, under the guidance of Rakesh Chakraborty Sensei, was crowned the overall Champion, while the JKA School of Karate (Purba Bardhaman), led by Sk. Ismile Sensei, secured the Runners-up position based on the medal tally. Both teams were presented with magnificent trophies in recognition of their outstanding achievements.

The Prime Minister Cup and the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports Cup are awarded to the national convention hosted by the Society.
