【AUSTRALIA】JKA MASTER CAMP REPORT MANDURAH WESTERN AUSTRALIA SEPTEMBER 7-10TH 2022

After 3yrs of worldwide Covid interruption Jim Wood MBE Chief instructor of JKA KDA Australia proudly hosted JKA Chief Instructor master M. Ueki Shuseki Shihan and master K. Shiina Shihan’s visit for the annual JKA Master Camp in Mandurah south of the capital Perth WA. This 2022 Gasshuku was organised for 4 days at Wood custom built JKA Dojo. Due to limited spacing and restricted numbers in our Dojo, the Master Camp sold out within weeks of advertising from November 2021. The JKA KDA committee decided this major event will not be in a large sports centre. With restricted numbers it would allow for more personal and private tuition, this was an excellent decision for “One on One” teaching. Participants arrived from Singapore, Adelaide, Gold Coast, NSW and our JKA KDA WA Dojos. A full house every night with different students attending throughout the 4 days training, (the group picture shows one of the groups after training)

This year’s JKA Master Camp was above all expectations, detailed JKA Karate technique taught non -stop at every level by both masters, especially the important Kata points covered in depth. Master K. Shiina skills, manner and agility with Kumite training was impressive. An extraordinarily successful 4 days of intense training was on offer from the two JKAHQKarate Masters. Having trained personally with master Ueki Shuseki Shihan since the early 1980s, I was amazed with the youthful master Ueki Shuseki Shihan’s demonstrating speed and stamina catching students with this impressive and famous Mai Geri. Happy students successfully passed demanding Dan and accreditation examinations Shodan to Roku Dan.

The well attended farewell party for the JKA ICONS had an exceptional fun atmosphere, entertained with great performances from Okinawan dancers and our Guitar duo. Sadly, it was time for the JKAHQ instructors to depart, crowded by students clambering for autographs and photos.

Thank you master M. Ueki and master K. Shiina for a memorable and successful week of top instruction in JKA BUDO Karate.

*Further details of this JKA Master Camp and examination results are on “WOOD DOJO FACE BOOK”

Till we meet again,
Best Regards
Oss

Jim Wood MBE
Chief Instructor JKA KDA Australia
