For the 3rd time since 2016, JKA Mauritius welcomed Sensei  Johan La Grange, 6th Dan, Chief Instructor SA JKA, to conduct a 4 days training gasshuku with all its members in Mauritius.

JKA Mauritius is indeed fortunate to have Chief Instructor Koichiro Okuma 6th Dan and Sensei Johan Lagrange as Adviser to teaching us since they are held in high regard and respected by the JKA HQ .

The Gasshuku was held from 10th to 13th May at various dojos around the island. Classes were held for all level of belts with the main emphasis being on core basics. Senior Training was centered around the basic Heian, Tekki Shodan/Nidan and Sentei  katas as well as Gohon and Ippon kumite.

Special referee and judging courses were also held to assist with overall standardization for future competitions in Mauritius. Our objective is also to held the first JKA Indian Ocean Cup next year with Madagascar and Reunion.

As first time entrants to the All Africa cup in South Africa in August 2018, Sensei Johan provided assistance, advice and guidance in helping our team to preparing for the competition.

JKA Mauritius was created in September 2016 and Sensei Johan had the pleasure to notice that today we encompass 20 Dojos with more than 250 members covering almost all regions of Mauritius.

Sensei Johan was interviewed by several journalists and it was the occasion to launch our new website www.jka-mauritius.com

In conclusion, JKA Mauritius karatekas enjoyed the experience and time training with Sensei Johan Lagrange.
