- An interim member of the board, Mr. Shunsuke Takahashi was nominated due to the early resignation of Mr. Minoru Hyougo.
- The term of the board, which expired in January 2006, has been extended to January 2007.
After Mr. Nakahara reported the current situation of JKA, the following agenda was discussed and adopted by the board:

- Elementary school division
- Prime MinisterÕs Cup and victory certificates were awarded to:
- The 50th anniversary memorial service for Master Funakoshi Gichin was held on April 29 2006 at Enkakuji Temple, Kamakura, Japan.
- Prospects for Olympic participation:
- There is a possibility for Karate to participate in the 2016 Olympic games, if held in Japan.
- However, there is little possibility to participate as part of Taekwondo.
- JKA insists on its own style of traditional Budo Karate. In the event that Karate is recognised as part of the Olympic games, JKA will make the best effort to include both Budo and sport Karate.
- Foreign individual and organizational members of JKA
- JKA related organizations should be approved by JKA Headquarters
- Such organizations shall bear the prefix ‘JKA’.
- Commencing January 2007 such JKA foreign organizations are obliged to register all their individual members with JKA HQ. The annual individual membership fee is $5US and three- year total of $15US is payable in advance. Members will receive three-year membership certificates as well as JKA passports at no extra cost. The fee may be reduced however, by JKA HQ, taking into account the economic conditions of member countries.
- Each foreign organisation is responsible for its individual memberships.
- JKA desires to issue Special Dan Examination Rights to qualified instructors in
each relevant foreign organization.
The board will continue to examine the demarcation of the so-called ÒregionsÓ in the world including "Pan-America"
- The official titles (use of the name "Shuseki-Shihan" and "Shihankai")
- No country or region can use the title of Shuseki-Shihan or Head Shihan.
The technical head of a JKA approved foreign organisation may use the
title of Chief Instructor instead. - The title of "Shuseki-Shihan" is treated as the proper noun and should be spelled as "SHUSEKI-SHIHAN" in English.
- SHESEKI-SHIHAN Sensei Sugiura must not be addressed as Chief Instructor.
- The name of Shihankai also cannot be used in other countries outside JKA HQ. Please consider some other title such as Technical Board.
- Shihan-kai should be spelled out as SHIHAN-KAI in English.
- No country or region can use the title of Shuseki-Shihan or Head Shihan.
- Dan Examination, qualification thereof etc.
- Applications to hold a Dan Examination must be submitted to JKA HQ,
30 days prior to the examination date. - Extent of Dan Examination
1st Dan to 3rd Dan: within each country
4th Dan to 5th Dan: within each region
6th Dan: according to the Regulation of Examination
7th Dan and above: only at JKA HQ in Tokyo - There are three Dan categories: Regular Dan, Dan by Recommendation
And Honorable Dan. The Dan by recommendation cannot be upgraded to Regular Dan, in applying for Regular Dan Licences.
- Applications to hold a Dan Examination must be submitted to JKA HQ,
- Relationship with other organizations
- JKA shall not recognize any organizations other than WKF.
- Organizations, which are run by ex-members of JKA, have no relation to JKA unless they are approved by JKA HQ.
- A JKA member cannot be an official of, or shall not instruct at, other Karate organizations. The only exception being the case of Mr. Mikami acting as head of Hokubei-Shihankai, since that is a goodwill assembly of various styles.
- Election of the Board of Directors
- The initial board members at the launch of JKA/WF were elected with the recommendation of JKA HQ.
- From next term on, each region shall recommend and elect its board candidates.
- Each region shall submit the minutes regarding of the election of such candidates, with the signature of its representatives.
- This regulation will be effective from January 2007.
- The next Funakoshi Gichin World Championship Tournament will be held in Japan in 2009 in accordance with the regulation, which determines that the tournament should be held every three years, alternatively in Japan and elsewhere.
Suggestions were submitted with regard to an English version of the JKA Diary, with the exclusion of public holidays due to the different holidays in each country.
