REPORT: JKA PAKISTAN TRAINING SEMINAR AT KARACHI, PAKISTAN
WITH SENSEI KATSUTOSHI SHIINA
JKA Pakistan in collaboration with Japan Consulate Karachi and Japan Foundation
organized a training seminar from 19th to 22nd January 2010 at Japan Cultural
Centre, Consulate General of Japan Karachi. The General Manager Planning
Department JKA HQ, former JKA World Kata Champion, Black Belt 7th Dan Master,
Sensei Katsutoshi Shiina was the instructor for training seminar.
Sensei Katsutoshi Shiina conducted 8 training sessions consisting 2 hours
morning and 2 hours are evening for 4 days. 75 karate ka participated in
this training seminar. The training sessions were conducted separately
for seniors in the morning and evening sessions for blue and upper belts.
Sensei Shiina’s technical knowledge, natural way of teaching and
strong command on class simply left all participants spell bound and completely
in awe for the 4 days. During practicing of Khion session Sensei constantly
emphasized on hip rotation and Sensei repeated various drills till the
concept was understood perfectly. In Khion practice every technique must
be performed utilizing the power of entire body.
Kumite sessions comprised of the basic Ippon, Jiyu Ippon and Jiyu kumite
with counter punching, kicking and blocking techniques. The movement of
legs in kumite, which Sensei Shiina presented, was very professional and
systematic.
All basic “Heian Katas” and Sentei Katas Jion, Kanku-Dai,
Bassai-Dai, and Enpi were practiced with complete analysis along with
explanation on individual techniques. Further Teki Shodan kata was also
practiced in detail.
In the last training session seminar diploma were awarded to the participants.
All the participants were so happy and delighted with the teaching of Sensei
Katsutoshi Shiina.
We are very thankful to H.E. Toshikazu Isomura Acting Consul General of
Japan, H.E. Ryo Ishikawa Director Cultural Centre and our special guest
from Japan Sensei Katsutoshi Shiina for their sincere efforts and contribution
that made this seminar possible.
