REPORT: Black and brown belt course Bergen, Norway 3-6. September 2009JKA Norway had the great pleasure to have Ueki Sensei visiting Norway early September. Ueki Sensei and Geir Larsen Sensei conducted 4 days of high quality JKA Karate tuition for brown belts and Dan grades. Approx. 120 karate ka from all over Norway joined the course. The training camp began Thursday in a local dojo, located in southern Bergen. (Nordas karate club). From Friday we moved to a larger sports hall with good space for practicing. The “red core” throughout the weekend was correct basic form. The importance of correct positioning of the knee, elbow, and attitude was repeated in order to reflect good basis. Every day the first session was held joint for brown and black, with instruction from Ueki Sensei or Larsen sensei. Session number two was divided between the senseis, and black and brown belts were divided into their separate groups. The senseis guided us through the kata: Ganka ku, Sochin, Bassai Dai, Tekki Nidan, Tekki Sandan, Chinte, Gojushiho Sho and Meikyo. Ueki sensei dedicated one of the sessions to tactical JKA kumite principles; “sen no sen” and “go no sen”, and various methods for using these principles. All the Norwegian karate ka got a lot of information and feedback, to be taken back to each dojo for further projection. We are fortunate to have the opportunity to train with a capacity of Ueki Sense and to take part in his knowledge. JKA Norway would like to thank Ueki Sensei once again for traveling to Norway, and we look forward to see him in Norway again. Best regards Emil Clementsen JKA NORWAY - Technical Committee |
