REPORT: Seminar of instructors JKA Europe

From 06 to 08 June 2008, the city of Thillay received for the first time in France the seminar of instructors JKA Europe. France JKA and its Chief Instructor Daniel LAUTIER Sensei, with the support of JKA Headquarters, had the honor to accomodate during three days nearly 250 graded tops, from all Europe, and even from the whole world, since this seminar had been extended to the members of JKA Word Federation, to the request express of Japan.

This annual event was placed under the technical direction of Masaaki UEKI Sensei and Masahiko TANAKA Sensei, both 8th Dan JKA and respectively Deputy Chief Instructor and Assistant Deputy Chief Instructor of Japan Karate Association. The latter came accompanied by OKUMA Sensei, 5th Dan JKA and of NEMOTO Sensei, 4th Dan JKA, both instructors full-time in Honbu Dojo, Tokyo, and members of the national team of Japan. Hideo OCHI Sensei, 8th Dan JKA like Jorgen BURA Sensei, 7th Dan JKA, respectively Instructor Chief and Technical Director JKA Europe supplemented the group of the speakers.

This studious but convivial weekend, important for the standardization of the teaching and the standardization of the techniques, made it possible to the participants to improve and look further into their knowledge on Kihon, Kata (in particular Bassai Dai, Kanku Dai, Jion, Enpi, Jitte, Hangetsu) and Kumite, trilogy indissociable in the teaching of the JKA Karate-do.

The end justifying the means… examinations of judge, examinator, instructor (A, B, C, D) and ranks Dan JKA (of the 1st - shodan with 7th - nanadan) closed this international event which was a success and which will certainly remain like such in the memories of all the participants.

29 countries were represented of which (alphabetically); Germany, England, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bahrain, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Scotland, Egypt, Spain, Estonia, France, Greece, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Norway, Netherlands, Portugal, the Czech Republic , Serbia, Slovenia, Sweden, and Switzerland.

One could also note the presence, inter alia, of SUGIMURA Sensei (7th Dan, Chef Instructor Swiss), SAWADA Sensei (7th Dan, Belgium), NAITO Sensei (7th Dan, Chef Instructor Italy), GNEO Sensei (7th Dan, Chef Instructor Belgium), HEDLUND Sensei (7th Dan, Chef Instructor Sweden), SATO Sensei (6th Dan, Chef Instructor Monaco), OHTA Sensei (6th Dan, Chef Instructor England), LARSEN Sensei (6th Dan, Chef Instructor Norway)…
