Directors' Meeting 2008

Appointment of Senior Technical Advisors

On March 8, 2008 JKA HQ held a regular Board of Directors' meeting, at which it was resolved that as of that date M. Mori and T. Mikami, in consideration of their long years of service and many contributions, were appointed advisers; they were each given the special title of ‘Senior Technical Adviser,’ a position which is below Chief Instructor but above Deputy Chief Instructor.

Appointment of Deputy Chief Instructor and Assistant to Deputy Chief Instructor

At the same board meeting it was resolved that as of that date M. Ueki resigned as Senior Managing Director and was appointed Deputy Chief Instructor. In addition M. Tanaka resigned as Managing Director and was appointed assistant to the Deputy Chief Instructor. Y. Osaka was promoted to Senior Managing Director from Managing Director, and T.Imamura was promoted to Managing Director.

Issuance of New Kyu Certificates

It was also resolved at that Board meeting that the price for the new Kyu certificates for foreign students will be US$5.00 per Kyu. These new Kyu certificates, which will be distributed starting with the 2008 spring gasshuku, will be made available to those foreign dojo heads and dojo instructors.

Issuance of New Passport Books

JKA HQ will be issuing new passport books for foreign students at US$10.00 each.*
Because these new books will be almost twice as thick as the current books, which are now out of print, they will have room for a much more detailed record of qualification results. They will enable students to more completely and thoroughly document their general progress, and will solve the vexing problem that many currently face: a passport book that’s full. The new books are now being printed and will be available to foreign dojo heads and dojo instructors at the 2008 spring gasshuku.

*(NOTE: As before, these books will be given free to all those who pass the examination for first Dan).
